Creating the possibility of high-speed access to the Internet in the city of Kyiv, the construction of a Wi-Fi network is planned. For this, the KCSA’s order provides for conducting appropriate contests for the attraction of investors.
According to the Department of Economics and Investments, the project concept involves the construction of an integrated network for the provision of multiservice through the location of access points (Wi-Fi) on the communal property of the metropolitan community – non-residential buildings, engineering, and other facilities.
The specialized utility company “Kyivteleservice” has been designated by the customer for construction. Preparatory (pre-investment) works will be carried out by the municipal enterprise “Kyiv Investment Agency”.
The implementation of the project will enable guests and residents of Kyiv to freely use the high-speed Internet in parks and on the streets of the city, regardless of mobile operators or account status.
For the record, within the framework of Kyiv Smart City’s initiative, since 2017, the construction of a Wi-Fi network in the tourist places of the capital has begun. Today, there are already 11 places available for free access to the Internet. These are Andriivsky Uzviz, Contract Square, Mikhailivska, Sofiyska, and Poshtova Squares, Maidan Nezalezhnosti, the Shevchenko Park, Golden Gate, Palace of Sports, Palace “Ukraine” and NSC “Olimpiyskiy”. The access point is called KyivSmartCity.
An announcement of the investment competition for attracting investors will be published on the official portal of Kyiv (www.kyivcity.gov.ua) and in the printed publication “Khreschatyk Kyiv”.
