Investment volume: UAH 33.4 million

The winner of the investment tender for the creation of a bike-sharing network in Kyiv was determined in 2019. It became the LLC “NEXTBIKE KYIV”.

The winner of the investment tender undertakes to create a network of 264 rental points with 2,000 bicycles. Bicycle rental points should be located in ten districts of Kyiv. The estimated cost of the bike-sharing network project is about UAH 33 million.

Under the terms and conditions of the tender, the bicycle must be equipped with a smart lock that blocks the mechanism of the bicycle and prevents it from moving without payment; software that allows you to pay for rental services and unlock a smart lock of the bike and a GPS tracker that tracks the exact location of the bike.

Placing bicycles will be standard for Kyivites and guests of the capital – applying blue markings on the asphalt. There is no need to create additional structures.

Kyiv residents and guests have used public bicycle rental services more than 75,000 times for 2 years. Vitali Klitschko stated this during an online press conference, answering questions received from the media.

The public bike-sharing system, which we presented together with the project’s investors two years ago, is rapidly gaining popularity in Kyiv. During this time, more than 75,000 times Kyiv residents and guests of the city have used the services of public bicycle rental. And if two years ago we started with 33 rental stations, today there are 302. The number of bicycles that can be picked up at these stations has also increased significantly. There are already more than a thousand of them. And in literally a week or two, as investors assured, they will bring another thousand, – said Vitali Klitschko.

According to him, this year the Nextbike bike-sharing service has been rebranded: it has changed its name to Bikenow, launched a new application and reduced the cost of a single trip.
